Without doing into the details of other officer changes there will still be a charge to allow them to have permission to attack ships but these permissions will be attached to the officer and not the ship.

The charges will be less than the existing rank fees and there will be no maintenance.

[1] Enemy [5000]
[2] Support Own [1000]
[3] Suport Allied [2000]
[4] Defend Allied [1000]

All ships can carry posted lists, enemy PIR and defend own aff without changes. Numbers proposed for the costs are a suggestion but to make them low/zero is equivalent to removing the point of PIR positions.

All current ranks will be compensated at the point of change. If you have a reasonable mix of ranks now then there should be no problems change to this system.

This leaves rank relativly speaking out of the picture. The question is can we use the rank for anythign else ? or should it just be used as a template for the above ?

Forgive me for asking a dumb question, but who will have permission to set these rankings? Will it just be Affiliation PDs and VPDs, or will the orders be open to everybody?
David Bethel
Same as the current rank permissions, which is doable by anyone who has those rights.

Would this be a one off charge, so once the permission is issued the officer concerned can change the approved lists as often as is convenient within the constraints of the issued permission?

IE, Does having permission to add to enemy list allow multiple changes to same, as Admiral (ships) can now?

I would like to see the ability to build fleets. Each rank can have a number of ships attached to his ship, then whenever the ship of the ranked officer moves all ships allocated to him follow the same orders. The slowest ship in the fleet dictates the movement of the fleet. and if one ship runs out of TUs they all stop. This could be used to fleets together.

So would I, but for different reasons (escorts for freighters...). However, the idea of fleets has come up many times before. One of Mica's main arguments against is that fleet orders make it easier for players to run large numbers of ships, thus giving established players less incentive to hand over ships to newer players. It would also encourage further "mass fleet action" battles, rather than the smaller conflicts which I know Mica would prefer to see, and I would also prefer to see from a role-playing aspect.

Fleet orders have been discussed many times before. I doubt that this time it is any more likely that they will actually be introduced.

one off, and its on forever for that officer and he can then alter the associated list how he likes at any time - there will have to be some facility to clear the permissions for the AFF but this is purely control and need not ever be used.
