While discussing the updating of info on authorisations if a positions changes hands, I had a thought.

Would people like a rule that if you are the defender and lose a combat on day 1, you don't get a battle report - the position just disappears with a brief "position lost" message. For outposts this message would only come back next time an update was requested or a colony tried to interact with it. Would add to the mystery and could create bermuda triangle situations/no-go areas. Also if a pirate comes up with a super successful strategy it would remain a mystery until someone escapes or survives long enough to report cool.gif ).

It would simulate an aff losing contact with a position that was the victim of a successful ambush/surprise attack and also stop suiciding of positions to gauge a colonies defenses. These situations would force people to decide to investigate in force or avoid an area and could add a nice element of uncertainty. Would also allow for risky sneak attacks

i.e. IMP attack AFT outpost with a super rare mineral in overwhelming force knowing they must capture it in 1 dayand strip any resources they need before the AFT know its gone. If they get their calculations wrong there are political consequences.

I like this idea. biggrin.gif It would add a lot to the game, although I might prefer a system when the battle report is delayed instead. Say that it takes 5 days before the emergency signal arrives and you get a report about the battle.

This seems more logical as I suppose all ships will send an automatic distress signal to their HQ when they are attacked.

I have always held the opinion that if a position is destroyed or captured the owner(former owner in the case of a capture)shouldn't get a battle report!

So I'm all for this idea! biggrin.gif
