| I think all affs have the problem of players dropping out of the game and not informing anyone. Also the problem of players signing up but never actually putting in turns. So I was wondering if something could be coded that would automatically delete an inactive account/positions after say 8 weeks. If any of the positions that are inactive are aff owned they could be transfered to the PD by default.Any player owned assets are just deleted. I don't mean that players should make sure they run all their positions constantly to avoid losing them(although that would solve the build up of TU and move across the galaxy in one day arguement! Only if a player hasn't submitted any turns will their positions be transfered or deleted. I know Mica has a clear out now and then and deletes all the positions that new players have signed up for but never used. But that's very rare. FET has a long list of members that have never moved their ships nor bothered to reply to emails. And recently I noticed that another member who was quite active to start off with dropped out and I had to trawl through the list of FET assets and transfer aff owned ones back to myself and other members. | |||||

| If you email kjc they clean it up, but I agree thats only a tempoary solution. I wouldn't mind a 'last time this player sent a turn' report and a way to kick players without politicals | |||||

| As someone who has on occasions recently gone some considerable time without submitting any turns, I would be against any routine that automatically chucks people out after a period of inactivity. I think that Ben's suggestions are probably the right ones: reporting when was the last time that a player submitted a turn, and an in-game way of voting to remove players from the affiliation even if they don't have a political. | ...perhaps add 'Seize affiliation assets' which would raise an issue like the 'Transfer control' order for all affiliation owned assets owned by a political player? | |||||

| KJC has this already in place. On the PD report you will find something like this | Wild Weasel (3946) Docked at DOM ************ | | Player: ********* | | Design: Battleship (150) | | Class: Capital Ship | | Last Update: 13.5 Type: 100 Heavy Hulls | This is however only good for affiliation assets but does give a clear indication of wether the player is still active or not when you take into consideration all their aff owned positions. | |||||

Players with political and/or base positions have weekly turns sent to them and get chargeed for them anyway. So even if such a player didn't submit turns for awhile they still wouldn't be automatically deleted from the game. What I would like to see is players without politicals and this is mainly players who have had a look at the game, signed up but then done nothing at all for say 8 weeks to be deleted. Yes we do get a report on the political printouts, but sometimes when the aff has several hundred positions some of the inactive ones are overlooked. A bit of code automatically deleting inactive player owned positions(not politicals or bases)and removing the player from the game and affs membership lists,or at the very least put up a flag to the PD to inform of the inactivity would be very helpful. | |||||

| I think that a business that ran a routine to automatically delete customers would be crazy! Aside from that, I don't think this is something to be handled by PD's more than the information they are given already. More likely KJC should email customers who have stopped playing to remind them about their positions and offer help/advise. They might retain a few more customers, adn they might get a few people saying "I don't want to play anymore" both of which would help. |
