Hi,

While discussing various peace deals with other Affs, I hit across the idea of Embassy complexes....


The idea behind these are elly very simple but could open up all kinds of underhand tactics.

The benfit for the Starbase where they are located could affect the 'population interaction' side of the game. I believe that different race won't get on (when the code is brought in) and will have a negative impact on starbases. However by having an Embassy belonging to a race will reduce this negative impact.

The downside is that the embassy counts as the territory of the controlling Aff. For example an FGZ embassy in a say a BHD starbase would count as FGZ territory, imagine if an FGZ agent stole a piece of BHD tech and legged it back to the Embassy...what would the BHD do?

What do you guys think?

by asking for the above you are already saying that you want to use it for purposes other than for Embassy requirements.

So I doubt people would let you build one would they.

anyway, if i was BHD in above incident, i would still send the troops in, no matter if you do think its your territory or not biggrin.gif

Not really, the Embassy serves a purpose to the Starbase owner, but you would require the Aff who controls the Embassy to open it. Basically the Affs would need to co-operate on order to set them up.

With regards to the incident, what if the BHD did not know the Agent fled there? Would they risk angering the other Aff by entering the embassy without just reason? There are many ways that the Affs involved could make use of the embassy, it would in my opinion open up another area of the game.

the Agent/operative (secret war) aspect of the game could be given a much wider scope and it could take some of the combat emphasis away form the standard combat types we already have.

Coming in on this idea completely unknowingly (Hi, Alvin! <g>), I also think it would be an interesting idea.

Enabling a certain MU to be stored within an Embassy complex would also be interesting. For example, if the starbase has sufficient Embassy complexes assigned to you, you could land a 10 hulled ship carrying a GP full of Agents and/or Operatives into the Embassy complex, then evac the ship and pray you weren't spotted biggrin.gif

youve just again raised the issue that poeple wont allow embassy's in their own Starbases.

And also, the forthcoming update might give a reason to have a flagritz embassey in the starbase, but why would anyone have a GTT one? The non race-specific affs would loose out.

I've been thinking that it would be nice to have enhanced capabilities for agents/operatives though - as commercial agents. Perhaps each one recruited in a starbase could sell 10 or 20 MU's of goods from a stockpile, weekly. Of course, the larger it got the easier they would be to root out. I would envisage selling to the population as a low-risk activity, perhaps increasing as volumes increased.

It would require agents/operatives being allowed to hold a stock of trade items, deliverable via the starport highport. It would make a change from loading them up with the usual sonic screwdriver MkII and adaptive disguise kits cool.gif [Bluff].

Of course, we AFT could never use then without prior arrangement, but it would be nice for other people, I'd assume.
