Hi, Not actually a questions, but I thought that this information should be put on the board: During mass production, the output per factory is as follows: 10 factories = 450 MU produced 11-20 = +50 MU per factory 21-40 = +55 41+ = +50 Therefore, it pays to specialise and put at least 40 factories in each line. rob

As long as you have 16 factories on a line you're getting more production out of them via mass production then via standard production.

Not sure if I should have started a separate topic for this, but...I thought that the Tooling time for factories going into Mass Production was 4 weeks, but mine all take 5! Each week is a countdown where it says "4 weeks to completion" "3 weeks to completion" "2 weeks to completion" "1 weeks to completion" "complete this week" (but nothing is produced!). is this how it should be, or has the tooling time gone wrong? Dont know about Untooling yet - but i should find out next week :-) Mandible

The 5th week is only a partial week between when you issue the mass production order and the next maintenance day. The tooling process takes a full 4 weeks. Issue the mass production order on the day your starbase does maintenance and it'll say 5 weeks then during maintenance it'll say 4 weeks remaining. Issue the order the next day and it'll take almost 5 weeks in total. This is correct. If it worked the other way mass production lines could be setup in 3 weeks rather than 4. If you've not noticed, tooling blueprints/tech/principles work the same way. A tech takes 4 weeks to tool but when you do the order it actually says 5 weeks until you get to the next starbase maintenance day. I hope this helps to clear things up for you.

Thanks, thats were I must be going wrong - I wait until my turn is back and then issue the new mass production orders and I am losing 5 weeks worth of production. I Must admit, I never really pay attention to how the starabse turns are produced (the maintenace phase, etc), i just operate on a "before I get my turn" and "after I get my turn" mode :-) Cheers for the help Mark |
