| There was a discussion on the Platforms section about Platforms requiring a certain number of Platform Control Complexes based upon their size and having a drop in efficiency based upon how many under that threshold were operational. Has this been implemented yet? If not, what effect would shutting down/destroying the single Platform Control Complex at a starbase that controls a Platform have? | It is on the things to do. At present, there is no benefit or penalty to shutting down the complex. | |||

| If the destruction/switching off of a platform control complex is going to affect the efficiency of one or more platforms then we need the ability to build platform control complexes without creating 10 hulled platforms. I don't want to end up with 2 x 10 hulled platforms because I wanted to build 2 back platform control complexes. | |||

| When I last talked to Mica, a complete overhaul of the platform rules was on the agenda and the future role of platform control complexes was not yet decided. At the time the most sensible solution seemed to be that a control complex would allow to control a set number of platform hulls (around 500), no matter how many individual platforms. Without the control complexes, platform performance would drop accordingly in a manner similar to crew factors. The other idea was to treat platforms as starships without engines. They would still be charged 1,50 for updates but be completely independent from any particular starbase/control complex. Personally I tend to favour the second approach as I fail to see the purpose of the control complexes in the game rules. They seem to be required neiter for roleplaying aspects nor for game administration or gameplay purposes. Edit: By the way, they contribute 500 MUs cargo capacity factors to the shuttleports. Don't forget that when shutting them down. | |||
