If I cloak into a location with a platform, can I perform a boarding action without having the platform open fire on my ship?

If I enter a location while cloaked and then perform an action which takes longer than the cloak, will this trigger other positions' enemy lists?

In the above scenario, will it trigger my enemy list? e.g. I add a starbase to my enemy list, then cloak into the starport, then perform the scout order which takes longer than the cloaked TU's.

A very tricky question! Currently cloaks don't have much autonomy, so maye a boost would be enough?

With that in mind, I think that a ship should be targetted if the cloak fails. If it's a boarding action it shouldn't be targetted (if it did manage to dock while cloaked) because:

1: It's docked so defender can't use naval weapons on account of the ship being close. Only defense is repulsing the attack with the troops and then board the ship in turn.

2: Others defending structures or ships can't risk damaging one of its own

While I love the concept for this (for obvious reasons ph34r.gif ), there appear to be a number of problems associated with it. For instance, how does the cloaked ship know where to locate the Platform, or other ship? (as a cloaked boarding action against a platform would be no different than a cloaked boarding action against a battleship or freighter) Cloaking devices disable the sensors of the equipped ship, and although a good case could be made for looking out the window and "flying by wire", I don't think that this type of action would be particularly effective given the extreme distances involved in space. wink.gif

So has anything official been ruled on these questions?

Its not so much an official rule, its an open question: what is the best solution.
Currently we have

The platform will open fire on you

You can do anything that does not chack enemy lists (scan location etc).

I like this option - it adds more opportunities for skulduggery to the game.

I don't see why a cloaked ship should be targetted while boarding!!! Cloak troop ships will never be able to unload troops into a orbital position, whereas to attack a land based position, they can land and deliver troops, if only as ground assault teams. Whatever happens to claoked jump assaults?

Yes that right, it will be very difficult to board platforms - this has to be the case or they would be devalued to the point of not being used. The idea behind the 4 rounds of combat you face when boarding is based on the fact that you have to offload troops and this is when you are open to attacks from the platform.

Boarding is ment to be for taking over crippled positions, it allows you to board armed positions but not without a price.

You can cloak stuff into orbit and ground assault is not the same as boarding.
