I've a couple of colonies which have a number of mass production lines and I'm too lazy to add up the usage of each ore each week and then compare this to what the colony mines etc. Would it be possible to add a section stating the total amount of each ore used that week and then the +/- based on what the colony mines/gets in via resource complexes/outposts. It would make colony management a bit easier and allow you to react before you realise you're running out of an item (and yes, I can look at the ore report, but I don't care if I only have 1-2k as long as the colony is getting in more ores than required).

Thanks,

This leads me on to think about the whole subject of starbase reports. I'm about to start a new topic on that thread, but it to some extent leads on from here...

This would be a most useful idea.

Saves me getting my calculator, abbacus, pen and paper out every week to calaculate ore usage and requirments for starbases.

in theory only,

if the report had this detail in, someone working for starbase would have to collate this detail and report back to you. Therefore shouldnt you be able to build an "admin complex" which would result in employee costs, and then from this be able to suggest how you get certain details of your report, on how you want it. The more you want the more employees required, increasing the costs, or would this be a programming nightmare.

just for you lazy lurkers of starbase reports rolleyes.gif

Hi,
there could be other factors as well - the starbase might be using a standing order to teleport in rare ores from a friendly starbase in the same system.

If you only get one report a week then a (+/-) might be ok, but will be uch less useful if you get regular updates.

Easiest way is just to compare two reports a week apart from same base and just see if ores hae increased or decreased?

Not sure if it's really needed - but maybe it might make sense to be able to set an alert, so that a message was flagged at the top of your political if ore X fell below threshold Y in starbase Z.

I wouldn't make use of it myself, but having less than half a dozen starbases means it's not too time consuming for me to keep an eye on everything.

I would find this add-on report very useful myself. Nothing too complicated, just a list of ores used in production (mass and normal) that week. Perfect for keeping track of shipping and for arranging deliveries. Wouldn't even need to list down the amount I had mined or had delivered but would save a hell of a lot of figure work. Admin complex, I'd pay 10 stellars a week for this info wink.gif

Would it be possible to just expand the Ores section such as;

STOCK ITEM MINES PROD TRANS MISC TOTAL MASS
20000 Basic Elements (2) - 1 mus +1000 -2000 +5000 0 24000 24000
15000 Hydrocarbons (3) - 1 mus +1000 -750 0 -500 14750 14750

Where;

STOCK = QTY as per the last turn
MINES = Ores produced by mines and resource complexes
PROD = QTY used in production & mass production
TRANS = Qty Brought/Sold/Delivered
MISC = Other usages (ie Agent Action, damage etc)
TOTAL = New Total

I guess the above would highlight agent actions more clearly (if used to destroy ores), but it is little more than a simple stock usage which would most likely be available to a Governor

Actually - one step further than this I'd also like a revenues summary ie;

Merchandising Complexes +10000
Market Purchases/Sales + 2500
Other -10000 (NB - would include start up research costs)
Wages -5000
Total -2500

At present I use a spreadsheet to track my colonies. Every month or so I go through the incomming materials and those used in mass production etc to check I have enough comming in. Its easy enough to do but its is pretty time consuming and tedious. The +/- summary would be a really handy feature.

In its simplest form all you would need on your mineral report is amount remaining and the difference between the current week and the previous one. You can adjust for people collecting large amounts of ore that week and have a pretty good idea of how healthy your supplies actually are.
