During BSE I always made sure that all of my starbases had enough recon planes to keep an eye on the surrounding area (me, paranoid, no not me unsure.gif )

In Phoenix I get the following on my turn sheet from Fortress, but I get nothing appear on the turn sheets for any of my other starbases, even though some of thoses share planets with other aff's/starbases:

-Recon Report-----------------------------------------------------------------

DTR STARBASE ONYX (82) - {24-6} 1820 kMus - Hiport @ Sector 24,6
DOM STARBASE HIGH MERIDIAN (2903) - {10-7} 2999 kMus - Hiport @ Sector 10,7
SMS STARBASE OLPAH (4261) - {1-11} 1721 kMus - Hiport @ Sector 1,11
AFT STARBASE ARIEL (4444) - {24-12} 3070 kMus - Hiport @ Sector 24,12

So my question is simple - if I don't have any recon planes at Fortress (and I don't) what do I need to build to be able to get the same report for my other starbases?

You must have a platform in orbit. Platforms perform the Recon report.

There's still the problem that the recon report from platforms is not as good as the old one used to be. In particular, it doesn't show up outposts. I know of a goodly proportion of the outposts on Eridani, having made sure my platform scanned all the places where they use to be in BSE :-), but none of them show up on the recon report. Only the starbases and any landed ships.

In addition, the report just copies the same scans you'd get from a ship, and then adds the "@ sector x,y". Which is all very well, but the scan already shows the location of starbases, in curly brackets after the position number, so you get a long line with the same information twice!

erm... My Platforms show Outposts... cool.gif

What is the Sensor Power of the Platform you used? Sensor Power is STILL used to perform the cursory scans of the planet, and with a large planet looking for a -98% Sensor Profile Outpost, you'd still have a hard time of it unless you had ALOT of Sensors... Which is as it should be IMHO rolleyes.gif

Surely if my political knows where the outposts are and they show up every time one of my ships enters orbit, a platform with superior sensor power should show them?

Jon has my point exactly.

And in response to Rich's question, the platform in question has a sensor rating of 109%, and has itself been actively doing sector scans to spot these outposts.
