This was discussed some time ago, but I can't find it on this forum anywhere. I also think that a decision was made and implamented - which turns this post into a bug report... ![]() When a ship is landed on a planet at (say) 01,01 and wants to move to (say) 20,20 should the ship not automatically take off and then land at the new location? I know it used to do that wether you wanted it to or not, but I thought it had been changed so it would only take off if it was quicker than doing ground movement. So moving from 01,01 to 01,02 would more than likely be ground movement, but 01,01 to 20,20 would automatically make you take off due to the large distance. If I am correct, then it's not working....
This particular ship has a Take-Off and Landing time of 13TUs. So to take off and land at the new place would have been only 26TUs. Not 59TUs to get just over half way. ![]() Did I dream that alteration to the program? Who's the most disfunctional? Me or the program? ![]() Oh. And what the heck is the gound speed for a ship?!? ![]()

I'm a bit hazy now but am pretty certain that players wanted it to remain on the ground unless they specifically used the take-off order. The reasoning: If there are hostile ships in orbit and you are skipping across the planet to avoid detection, the last thing you want to do is take off and get pinned.

Ah, yes.... that would make perfect sense and I can see that people would have wanted that left as it currently is. ![]() So what ou're saying is that yet again, it's all my fault. Sheesh. I'll make sure I remember to take off next time ![]() Thanks for the quick heads-up. ![]() |
