| Something I would like to see in the game is a 'Create Issue' order along these lines: Create Issue [Type] [Text] Any political can use this order to submit a motion to his fellow political players. The player can determine wether the voting should be positive (requiring a majority) or a negative (a majority can block it) by checking/unchecking the Type box. All other politicals can then cast their votes with the 'vote on issue' order as usual. In this case the Issue is not a political action as per game rules, and the outcome of the vote has no impact on the game. It is thought as a tool for polls and roleplaying. Example order: >Date 50.2: Create Issue [Yes] [The DTR Merchant Navy suggest that the Yank starbase Porta Capella is dismantled due to low profits.] On political printouts it would look like this: |-Current Issue Report---------------------------------------------------------| | | | ISSUE #1234 | | The DTR Merchant Navy suggest that the Yank starbase Porta Capella is | | dismantled due to low profits. | | Issue raised by Ronald E. Silver (5964) | | Passes on week 01 day 2 unless blocked. | | For: 8 Against: 0 Abstained: 2 | | | >Date 50.3: Vote On Issue {1234} {1} On the issue of: The DTR Merchant Navy suggest that the Yank starbase Porta Capella is dismantled due to low profits. Issue raised by Ronald E. Silver (5964) We voted for the issue. This idea just had to come from the DTR! | |||

| I think this is a very good idea! | |||

| Great idea Stephan - I like it Just one point though. In the DTR we have a Senate (Parliment) and a Government. The Senate makes the law wheras the government enforces it. An example would be posting a ship - only government officials can vote on this. The rules that determine a posting would be determined and votted on by all the senators so we would need two voting categories and points associated with them. Andy (Only in the DTR!) | |||

Isn't this the sort of thing that we debate/decide via our IC discussions via email though? I mean, I'm not entirely clear on why we need a game mechanic for it...

Email discussions can often end up very inconclusive. This merely provides a way of having a fixed voting system, so that players' votes can be recorded as definite votes (rather than the "yes, but" or "we could try this..." that normally comes up through emails!). As Stephan originally mentioned, the result of the vote would have no in-game effect, but would be a very useful tool for getting definite results in discussions. I also am very much in favour of this idea! Richard AFT

| Could be useful, in favour. Geoff | |||

| FET have being doing this for months(sorry DTR A member puts forward an issue that is then voted on. Majority wins. Having said that it would be useful to have such a order in place. | |||

| Yeah would be a nice IC addition. | |||

| yes, a nice IC addition - but I would personally rank it as fairly low down the pile (compared to the planetary update, combat tweaks, ship editor upgrade etc. Dan | |||

I think everyone does it, but it would just be nice to have a record of them on the political reports so new players can review exaclty waht has been discussed / voted on. Andy |
