As I can't start a new topic in Starships, I'll start it here......

My question is: Do targeting computers add to the chance of space fighter being able to hit?

I had always assumed that the space fighters were launched and were then sent enroute to their target (hence the +12 to hit) but thinking about it, this doesn't make sense. I can use Vet crew and Combat AI's to keep my crew bill to a minimum, so there is no way that the space fighters can be manned. If this is the case then they are controled from the fighters bays by the crew. So whats different between them and a missile launcher when it comes to adding the targeting bonus other than the missiles, once launched, are not remote controled.

Missiles are cheap, one shot weapons. Due to their increased size and reusability it would make it easier and a better investment to fit better targetting systems.

One explaination anyway.

you answered your own question here.

once a missile is fired, if the vessel moves out of the way, the missile isnt able to compensate for this and misses. The fighter once launched has the abiliity to alter its path in conjunction with that of the enemy vessel.
