with the now potential increase in patch costs, and the fact that someone has mentioned it before (cant remember who) it is now an absolute MUST that refit orders install the best equipment available rather than having to remove and reinstall better MK equipment.

if this has already been mentioned somewhere else, then apologies, its just that theres sooooo much to read, and quite a bit of it is crap as well biggrin.gif

Or even change the integrity loss from reffiting to be much less.

If ships are going to become more valuable, it's makes sense to be able to change their internals, without getting majorly stung for it.

I'll have a look at integrity loss for installing but i get the impression that its reasonable. But the refit will be changed to fit best equipment as default, and have a ticky to say no.

Having looked at the installing i think that i missed ther un off reasonable. I'll reduce the cost in terms of integrity for an install and make it even better or refits.

Excellent, i always thought so. biggrin.gif

So was this refit order quite popular then ? [Puts black hat on]
Ro'a-lith
Well, the one time I used it the refit order tried to squeeze in 10 standard thrust engines even though there were the ship design spec 17 thrust engine Mk2s already aboard.

I haven't used the order since, although if changes are made to correct the problems with the order I'd certainly use it again smile.gif

One other thing I would like to be able to use the order for - upgrading ship item marques. For example, if I want to refit a baseship to include Mk2 items instead of the Mk1s already in place, I would have to rip all the Mk1s out, perform a maintenance visit, install the Mk2s and perform another maintenance visit.

I believe the refit order currently looks first at empty space then at the ship BP to see what needs fitting, and slots items in accordingly? For this change to work it would also need to look at what marques are being used, what marques are available, remove the items lower marques from the ship structure and deliver them to the starbase. Could get complicated ohmy.gif

Perhaps instead of a tickbox, we need a dropdown list

Standard (default) - as per the new default "best mark"
minimal - only mk1 items
upgrade - replaces up to best mark available, uninstalling lower Mk items if necessary

I was only wondering if ppl used it a lot as there is a little bug, that forgets to remove the items from the starbase smile.gif ie you get the whole refit for the price of the patches.

shows how much notice I take - Or how few time's I've used the order biggrin.gif

So you could have reported it as a bug presumably. Exploiting bugs is bad, as it can make you endup in a worse situation that you started in.

Hmmm, maybe the tone wasn't right.

I actually hadn't noticed the bug, and have only used the refit order once or twice. The tone was meant to denote that i wish i had noticed...

If I knew there was a bug there i would hardly be the one trying to get you to look at changing the code regarding the order. That would be silly...

Anyway, swiftly re-railing the topic; is it possible to change this order so that it A) gives us the option to refit a ship using the best tech available after a ship has been damaged, and cool.gif (Edit: Does anyone else find the B ) smiley highly annoying?) enables us to refit the equipment on a ship which has sustained no damage?
finalstryke
I thought that it was going to be changed ages ago... so much so that I mentioned it as a bug report a few weeks back.

No-one seemed to care back then though sad.gif

The only reason I did not use it was that it did not have the use best option. When it does I'll use it all the time.

It now uses best all the time until i give out an orders.cfg that allows you to set not to use it.
