| i notice now the heavy hull has a hull damage of 40000 and the light hulls have been reduced. I assume at the time of battle on the old system, the damage ratio was taken into account at the time of firing for the heavy hull (IE 400 damage each to destroy) now this has been added to the hull size, does this mean the battle damage program has been altered, if not then the 100 Heavy hulled ship is now 4 times more powerful. just checking........... dont want any balls ups now do we.. | |

| i find this development interesting and looking forward to the answer | |

| in the "old" system, the reported damage was in MU's of hull mass - so every hull accounted for 100 "damage", even though the defense values for the hulls were wildly different. 100 XL hulls gave 500 defensive capability, but still showed as 10000 "damage" What David has done, is change what is desplayed to the defense value, so you can see exactly what the ship has left, rather than having to do a mental calculation each time. I don't believe there has been any change to damage at all, just to which number is being reported - one depends only on number of hulls, one on number and type of hulls - but for each ship they are exactly equivalent. | yes but at the time of firing, the damage would have been accounted for against a 1 heavy hull, ie 400 battle damage would have destroyed 1 hull, does that 400 come straight off the 40000 now then, thats all im checking. if its still calculated that the 400 damage only does 100 hull damage, then obviously only 100 would come off the 40000. | |

| ok, some numbers (both assuming 100 hulls): heavy hulls last week: start: damage 0/10000 gets hit for 400 hull damage end: damage reported as 100/10000 heavy hulls this week: start: damage 0/40000 gets hit for 400 hull damage end: damage reported as 400/40000 XL hulls last week: start: damage reported as 0/10000 gets hit for 400 hull damage end: damage reported as 8000/10000 XL hulls this week: start: damage reported as 0/500 gets hit for 400 hull damage end: damage reported as 400/500 absolutely nothing has changed with the way that hull damage is calculated and applied to the ship. What used to be called damage was measured in MU's of hulls - widely different for different hull types - Now it's the real amount of damage that the hulls can absorb Dan | |

| thats all im checking, that this is the case | |

| Nothing changed, it only changed what was displayed. The actual damage in a ship is 'held' as the number of hull items left in the structure. Really it would be best displaying a % and how many patches are required for repair. Since it will be changed to 1/2 production cost for repair of hull in the near future. |
