Got one of my starbases back today and noticed the following:

Mine complexes working at 89% efficiency, due to closed complexes.
Mine complexes produced 4600/5165 Thorlium (20).
Mine complexes produced 18/20 Jacium (30).

|-Mining Report----
|
| Over capacity by 7 mines (89.06% Efficiency)

7 of my mines have been de-activated and the rest running at 89% - why?
I haven't seen anything about reducing the number of mines that a starbase can have dry.gif

Hell, mining and ores is all the SMS are meant to be good at blink.gif

It sounds like you have more mines allocated to deposits than you have active mine complexes. This may be because you have used "Mine" orders with more total mines than you actually have, or it may be that some of your mine complexes have become de-activated for some reason (whether "activate complex" order with the wrong number of mines, or special actions or agent activity).

If you have set 10 mines to mine ore A, and 10 mines to mine ore B, but only actually have 15 active mine complexes, then the programme will run as if you had 10 mines on each deposit, but all the mines will run at 75% efficiency.

By my calculations, you must have 64 mines set to mine various deposits, but only 57 active mine complexes, thus leading to the 57 active mines being spread over 64 mine slots, and thus effectively having the equivalent of 64 mines running at 89% efficiency.

In other words, the 89% efficiency is an effect of having 7 de-activated mines.

I hope the above makes some sense!

Hi there, yes you have hit the nail on the head....

Couldn't work out why it allowed you to allocated inactive complexes - shame I hadn't activated them in the first place (like I thought I had tongue.gif )
