QUOTE (SSS)
[10] Scint max effect = output *2/mus (mki-mkvi:20,30,40,50). Effect on the ship is the average of all scints present.

Anyone know what this means in real terms?

Higher mark scints produce more effect, but it used to be the case that the total effect was capped at 20. This left higher mark scints only meaning that you need fewer of them, which is against the principle of constant mass for ship items. So David has changed it so that as you get higher mark scints, the maximum effect from those scints is increased, e.g. with purely mkII scintillators you can get a scint depth of 30, rather than 20.

If you have a mixture of different mark scintillators, then the maximum effect available will be averaged, i.e. with half mkI and half mkII you can get a maximum scint effect of 25.
