Not sure if this has been sugguested before, but I don't remember it. So here it is, potentially, again tongue.gif

What are the views of an option within the 'Boarding Options" to attempt a counter-board? PIR ScumLord (111) attemtps to board the AFT PrizeSucker (222) only to find she's crammed full of Mighty-Morphin-Power-Rangers and Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles that overwhelm the PIR troops and pour into the PIR ScumLord (111), capturing her.

Or would this be considered a two-day affair? PIR ScumLord (111) attempts a boarding which fails. THEN on day 2, AFT PrizeSucker (222) can attempt a boarding action of its own.
Would the PIR ship have chance to flee before any kind of counter-boarding though?

Spooky, I just thought of that over the weekend and was going to post it this morning.

I think it's an excellent idea.

There used to be something like this in the BSE rules. Just prior to the Phoenix conversion a DTR ship run by a new player was boarded by RIP troops and the troops aboard the ship actually managed not only to repel the boarders but even to successfully seize the RIP ship in return.

Of course we have no way of knowing wether this was acutally a result of the regular program or some sort of GM involvement. I also don't think that something similar was implemented in Phoenix.

To be honest, I don't even think it should become a regular rule. It is hard to imagine a team of tough marines fumble a simple freighter boarding to such an extend as to lose their own ship in the process. Most starcaptains would probably cut the link between the ships and move away, thereby abandoning the boarding team before they risk losing their ship.
It was fun to have the event as an unlikely streak of luck though (especially as the DTR was the winning side in this particular encounter)... so perhaps there should eb a minimal chance for counter-boarding to succeed after all. But certainly not on a regular basis.

the vessel carrying out the boarding has speed and boarding superiority, how would the "Boardee" be able to lock back onto the ship that is boarding it.

under the current rules a boarding attempt is only a 4 round affair, if you attempt to board twice for instance, the percentage control of the ship resets and the pre-boarding starts all over again. So on that premise counter boarding is impossible.

if counterboarding is put in then surely it would seem logical that the 2nd boarding action starts from where they got in the ship rather than all piling back out and piling back in again biggrin.gif
