| I feel there is need for a "Swap Mass Production" order for starbases. It would be useful to prioritize mass production if you are running short on certain key materials. The order should only work on running MP lines and be effective immediately. (In the past I have altered the sequence of my mass production via special actions so the order is already there, in a way...) | |

| Give us an example how it would work? | |

| Easiest example: Light alloys. Assume you have 50 MP lines running at your starbase. Your metals income is insufficient to cover the requirements and cannot be improved. You only notice this when production is stopped due to lack of raw materials. You opt to set up a new MP line for light alloys. This MP line is added to the bottom of your list, as the 51st MP line. Now the problem is: During weekly adjustments, you first mine metals and other raw materials and/or import them prior to production via standing orders. Then production kicks in, first custom production and then one MP line after another. Your (insufficient) metals supply runs out before the MP line for light alloys starts its production cycle. If you swap light alloys production to slot #1 then the last MP lines will use the alloys instead of metals. In this example, it is imperative to have the light alloys MP line at the beginning of the whole MP process, not the end. The same is true for any other raw material. You always want to set mass production lines with a higher priority to the top to make sure the important stuff gets built first and any shortfall of raw materials will affect the less important MP lines near the bottom of the list. The order itself would work much like the "Move Standing Order" order: Move MP line #51 to #1 (in the above example) | |

| Ah, sorry, missed the word order in your original post. Obvious really, my mistake. (I thought you were somehow swapping the produced item or something, I got confused.) Makes perfect sense - the suggestion and the need for it - to me. | |

| i also think that converting mass production from FOR EXAMPLE, Heavy Hulls, to Heavy Hulls MK II, should not be 6 weeks (ie 2 weeks untool 4 weeks tool) i would have thought the basics for the production would have been the same, with some incremental changes only having to be taken place, conversion to higher MK Mass production should be less weeks to do. just my opinion | |

| You mean like an "Upgrade MP" order that auto-switches the factories to the next item up the tech-chain? Sounds sensible to some degree, but there would still need to be some changes to the production run, obviously. So it skips the 2 week un-tool and just takes 4 weeks to re-tool. Or maybe even just a 2 week re-tool. I guess the order can just look at the tech manuals Substitue section to see what should get replaced. Maybe this can be added to the end of the long list of future up-grades? PS: I agree about the need for the swapping of MP order |
