Nice work David thanks. Now the problem :)

The parser is picking up some spurious entries.

Starbase parsing:

seems to pickup "available mines" "available resource complexes" maybe others. Usually a number in there on it's own. Picks up one or pickup orders. All of the "bad" entries are followed by a couple of funny characters then more data (I'm assuming the characters are carriage returns followed by the next line (cut off too soon to tell)

Aff names, great, thanks, but can they be forced to all cap?

Any outpost seems to do it to one degree or another (haven't seen it on starbases or ships yet). Emailed you some examples.

Hi.
Why after I've used the parser to scan in items, positions and the like does it want to change some of the items, position into lower case under the heading [rename]
if my positions scan them again???
For example:
If I scan say FET Tortuga the parser asks if I want to rename it to Fet Tortuga.
It happens with ISR,changeing to isr
and items mk numbers.ie mk II changed to mkii
If I accidently scan in the lower case version they don't show up in the drop down boxes when I write orders!!!
Not explained it very well I know dry.gif
I'll never make a good teacher would I rolleyes.gif

Presumably you scanned it in first with my parser (or editted the name manually) to get FET Tortuga, but the new KJC parser doesn't convert Aff labels to upper case (but I'm sure that will be in in the next revision).

In the drop down list, look a bit further down the list. Fet Aardvark actually comes *after* FET Zebra (lower case coming after Upper case when sorting).

Threw me as well that one :)

Not really a bug, but to keep it in the same topic. The upload turns is fine for most, but as I use a Mac then I need to save the compiled turns and send them via normal e-mail. Since I have never had a problem with sending turns then I'd like this option added back into the editor. If you can choose whether to upload or to save turns, then that would be great, thanks!

If you untick the "Use Internet Upload" option under File, you get the "Create Turns File" button back :)

Hi

I like what you have done with the sequence turns option, however you can only sequence turns after one position.

I tend to use a lot of ground parties which are picked up and dropped off by ships on a regular basis.

It was possible to make many sequences in the turn file based on the order you entered them into the editor. You could also move them up and down the list therefore creating a sequence.

As the list is now alphabetical it stops this type of multiple sequencing in the turn file and is less dynamic.
Andy
Ah - maybe I am mistaken

In the pop up box "Sequence" and you put positions into the sequenced turns box on the right, will they run in that order or will they run in any order after the position number you put in "Sequence After"?

Also do you have to put anything in "Sequence After"?
Andy
Also spelling mistake in the pop up box "Sequence"

When I use the Parser I don't get anything in the "Add Selected" box. It scans in system and planet maps OK but not planet names or positions (I have to add that data manually). This is the same as on my old version of the editor - the update has not changed it. Any idea why?
David Bethel
There should be a new version soon that works a lot better on big files and does not make the AFFs name lower case.

It only puts them in the add selected box if you don't have them already.... also there was a bug where things could get ignored that i have sorted in the version which will go up soon (its with KJC)...

What happens if you accidently sent out your orders before you are ready?? I just had that happens?? Would it be possible to get an " Confirmation Ask" in the next version??
MasterTrader
I would assume that the turn files are still dealt with in the way that they always have been. In that case, I believe that you can send in multiple turns between updates for any given position, and the program will use the latest turn for each position. Somebody will hopefully correct me if I'm wrong!

with the upload _i think_ new orders will overwrite old ones. However that is not always the case with emails as they can arrive in any order at KJC
Steve-Law
I've sent revised turns via the upload and the last ones seem to have been processed for me.

One thing I did wonder about, I'm now getting two email confirmations, is that normal? Each list the same turns (though in a different order..)

Yes it confirms it as it recieves it.... and there is also a confirm but the game program that it has the turns (the thing that down loads them is different and gives you a different message).

At somepoint the email download will be enabled in the online downloader, but i'm not sure when.
Nik
In the old order editor, the turns appeared in the order which you wrote them. In the new one, they are listed alphabetically. Is there a way to get them back to the order you wrote them? (I find it a lot easier finding turns for copying etc.)

Thanks,

Nik
Ted
Hi.
Since downloading the new orders zip that David put here the other day my parser will not scan in any new positions.
Scans items ok,just not positions.
Had several ships visit Mobile Bay this week where there are a load of ships.I checked my data file after parsering and it definitely didn't pick up some of the new ships located there. huh.gif
