Not sure if this is the way its meant to work or a bug.

What happened is I set up my research altering some projects and adding a couple of new ones.

Essentially the problem happened because I totalled up the number of labs I was using wrong and tried to use to many.

Now I would expect it to function like mines or resources and if the last order tried to use more than available it would just reduce that project in the number of labs.

In my case I set up a nice long list and when it got to the last item, for which I was short by 10 labs, it set up the project as requested by removing 1 lab from 10 other projects which is very much undesirable as it caused many projects to have the wrong number of complexes and only one to have the correct.

Will be sending in orders over the weekend to correct this but it would have a been a real pain if this had been left unchecked until the starbase turn day.

Embarrasingly not the first time I have done this smile.gif

For reference this happened to position :

the way you expected is the way it used to happen - and I would say the way it should happen

Had the same problem and lost all work.
1. Set project 1 to 1 lab (prioritizing) -- worked day 1
2. Set project 2 to total labs --- worked day 3
3. Project 1 now ended up with:
a. O labs
b. 0 research converted mass
c. 0 research at all
d. -10k (in essense) since the project is dead now. sad.gif
e. So I tried to correct it and reset Project 1 to 1 lab and am told there are no labs available..... (*g* what a double standard, I wonder at times who my people are not working for)

This is kind of like have 200 factories and setting up (4) mass productions of 50 factories each

( 4 * 50 ) = 200

And then issuing the order to set another mass produce item xyz with 200 factories and having the first 4 stop completely rather than saying insufficient factories.

This is not the way it should work -- all rules withstanding, so I think she's a bug.

(<g> and yes I did pay the union officials )

So your saying that you would be happy to (try and) start a new project but in fact you miss counted and have no spare research complexes. The order fails and you lose 10,000 stellars. Is it not better to have the project started and remove some research complexes from other project.

My advice is never set your conversion at the number of complexes your running, always set it lower. At least if something goes wrong as it will do at some point then you should get a conversion on most if not all projects.
