I find the way that squadron's synchronise TUs at the stat of squadron orders particularly annoying.

Two turns in a row I've had ships fail to jump but apparently lose 100, then 180 tus for doing nothing.

First and formost there needs much better reporting in the turn of what's actually happening.

A line that says

Synchronising ship TUs to lowest in fleet {lowest ship here}
Total TU cost for this action is xxx.

Before any orders are run. How it is now is extremely confusing as it is reported as the TU cost is for the failed order. (The order didn't have enough TUs to run in the first place, but can end up costing more than the original cost - e.g. my failed jump cost 180 TUs! because it didn't have 100 TUs to run correctly...)

But is there a better way to do this?

Squadrons sounded great but I'm going back to copy and paste now to be honest.

More hassle and complication than they solve. sad.gif

(Not blaming you David btw, you said they'd be a pain, and I can see why now.)

I for one love squadrons. smile.gif I don't mind losing a few tu's now and then as long as my escort always keep close to my freighters. I just hope a lonely pirate would try to attack my convoys soon... Would love to blast away a little... tongue.gif

I can see this clearing a lot of confusion.

I agree with you Steve I stopped using Squadrons last week it just seemed to be a waste of time and effort.

Even the few times I entered every order by hand gave less heart ache than this :-(

As long as you intersperce the orders with wait for tu's then squadron orders are better to use than the copy / paste. My only bugbear is when the squadron goes over the 300TUs it seems to want to stop moving and not process the full 60TUs available the next day even when sending update orders.

Me..I just look to see what ship has the least number of Tus available or the slowest in the squadron if it consists of different ship types and issue the squadron orders to that ship.
So far it seems to work for me!!! rolleyes.gif
