One of my ships, Palse (16547), has a minor overcrowing problem |-Cargo Report-----------------------------------------------------------------| | | | Life Support: 14/5 | | | |-Space Combat Report----------------------------------------------------------|[/CODE] I assume this is due to the refit i'm doing, however i'm sure last time i had extra cargo dropped to the starbase...

I believe that with cargo, and hence presumably also with lifeforms, there are certain actions which will trigger a check following which any excess will be dumped overboard / delivered to the surrounding starbase. I don't know the exact list of actions, but if I remember correctly pickups and deliveries are not amongst them (presumably to avoid being extremely annoying in refits). Has this ship tried taking off or docking since it got to this stage? Richard AFT

Nope, probably what it is then. Although i'd have thought once it reached the end of the refit orders it would check. I'll try taking off and seeing what happens.

Docking/Picking up or delivering to any SB in your aff will trigger the excess capacity routine. So it s best just to drop the crew off before you accidently mess yourself up. I am not sure if it would be good to add the excess check after a refit. It might make things more tricky and excess crew are not counted for crew factors in acny case.

Just a though: A ship docked with a starbase is, well, docked with the starbase. I'd assume the starbase will provide power feed and life support while the ship is powered down, monitor the ship security-wise, at the same time the repair and maintenance complexes work on hulls and supply stores. Under these circumstances the man-hours required to "run" the ship would actually be provided by the starbase if there are insufficient crew attached to the position. Only when un-docking the ship would go independent and be limited to the crew complement it carries aboard. Until then, however, I feel the starbase should be able to provide any missing crew factors. The same would be true for life-support space and cargo space. Effectively, while docked the ship would be *part* of the starbase and as a result, not be subject to its usual limitations. On the down side it will suffer splash damage and may even be subject to agent/operative actions.
