The 'Leave affilition' order is blocked by the ownership of affiliation owned assets. >TU 187: Leave Affiliation {1} XXX SHIP Xxxxxxxxxx (99999) is AFF owned. Error - You need to transfer or buy all your affiliation owned positions before you can leave the affiliation. But I cant transfer the ship without a political... which I dont want at this PRECISE moment. However, the ship was received unrequested - I am effectively barred from leaving an aff until a senior political of the aff I want to leave lets me. Which, I'm sure will be forthcoming in due course, but leaves me unable to control my own destiny until it is done... and PD's are busy people... It used to be the case that issuing a 'leave aff' order by the aff-owned position took that position too. I presume this has been fixed? TonyH

This, of course, isn't the first time for 'Jumping Jack' - eh Firesong? ![]() This is not a 'funny' problem, but a real bug, imho experienced just yesterday, which will take GM intervention to resolve. TonyH

Should have been - you can not leave an aff if you own any of its property.

This is fair enough, and is better than being able to abscond with aff-owned assets without paying for them (This thread could be really easily done 'in character', eh Firesong?). The problem is that it is now not within my personal control whether I leave the affiliation or not - not having currently got a political, I cant dispose of assets that I dont want to pay for, even if I could afford to. A better solution, imho, might be to arrange that the 'Leave affiliation' order was only valid when issued by a player-owned position, AND any associated aff-owned assets became uncontrolled by ANY player, while still flagged as owned by the original affiliation. [This is so that loss-making assets dont become an unwillingly acquired liability for the affiliation left]. Here's a couple of barely thought-out spinoff ideas that occurred while posting: 1. Any aff-flagged but non-player controlled asset that was generated by the procedure above, automatically becomes 'PIR' flagged as soon as the asset's unpaid stellar wage debt exceeds it's MU value... the chance for some combat by the small fry like me, who see an opportunity, perhaps? 2. Players cannot acquire aff-owned assets without having a political (an additional incetive to the Broadsword/Caravel combo, maybe?). These latter two are just throw-away ideas. I shall not be responding to comments on them... unless favourable :-) TonyH

The problem with this is affilations often give new players an extra ship so they can play around, however new players have a tendency of just stopping playing without actually transffering anything back, at least if it's aff owned stuff can be recovered.

Well, preventing them getting aff-owned assets in the first place would solve that... but the base proposal, that affiliation-owned assets would be left behind wouldn't be a problem: They would still be flagged as Aff-owned, and thus recoverable by an action by a political position of that affiliation... they just wouldn't be player-controlled. In the case of the asset being a starbase or outpost, any useful output would have to be stopped, to discourage abuse... Anyway, this is off my main bug report [Sings]: Pleeeese re-lease me, Let me gooooo....

Just struck me... I have been told of a major military-focused aff who were giving 100-heavy-hull ships to every new start which appeared on their political report, so assigning 'lesser' ships must be fairly common... Maybe they drop out without saying anything, because they are faced with the effort of getting their maybe unfamiliar, and not-always-chosen, PD to run a political order to take back the ship? Or have one of those PD's who are too bothered to actually interact with the player base, as long as they get to play with the decent affiliation kit. I suppose it might be simple for the new players to just get a new start-up... or maybe they dont bother... DTR!... Please help me!... I am being held captive against my will... In slavery!

...and everything fails yet again... And this in an aff with a PD who I've spoken to two or three times since I requested the ship be taken back sometime last week. I cant even shoot the damn thing myself. [Sings:]I want to break fre-ee, I want to break free...
