Hi,

Not really a bug but is it possible to see the Officer name in the Detailed scan routine as we used to see.

I feel that it added a little atmosphere

Your point on atmosphere is well taken. However, I'm having a little trouble envisioning a scanner that can determine an individual being's name. I suppose we could say that the first thing an officer always does upon boarding a ship is have the crew paint his/her/its name on the hull? smile.gif

If you think about it, it's no more strange than the scanner being able to identify the name and number of the ship.

Just part of the EEM requirements, that the captain of the vessel broadcasts their ident.

And here I thought it was just a case of CIA scanners being so good that they scan where his mum inked his name on the trouser label... biggrin.gif

I assume the CIA have barcodes behind one ear, or at the base of their spine of something? biggrin.gif

I thought we were reading transponder codes that were cross-referenced to the master EEM database available instantly everywhere in the galaxy. You know, like the way we can immediately know a ship's gone pirate.

Spines? Of course we don't! We have them surgically removed to facilitate squeezing into tight spaces.

Erm... I've said too much... ph34r.gif

Indeed, but it's not a stretch to imagine the transponder data also includes the officer's name.

If the EEM have a record of the ships registered owner (affiliation), size, class and unique signiture, it makes sense that they would also have the name of the registered captain/officer for the ship.

I personally like the idea, simply because it adds more flavour. It could allow you to hunt a specific officer too.
