The order editor parser will work on any text file where the format of the turn has been preserved. If you have processed the file in anyway then it may well fail. So if you try to parse a fragment of the file you will not get any useful results. Also remeber that the parser ony shows new data - if it detects something you already know about then it will not register it. (Looking at debug.txt can tell you roughly what happened)

Everything is down to the parser.cfg that is described in the order editor section.

I'm not entirely happy with this situation.

How much of the turn file can you include? Must players send each other their Security codes and Account numbers? It's one thing to pass this info between your own aff (though still not a good situation) but quite another if you are perhaps contracting explorers from other affs, etc.

Yes, they could edit them out but this is not a practical solution. The whole thing is obviously better than manual data handling, but it could be so much more.

One quick thing that would be very useful would be to allow the parser to work on just the ----TURN RESULTS----- section only. Maybe you could paste this into one of your own turns, but not very practical.

But ultimately the best solution would be an export/import feature. Export your data then send it to another player who import it into their editor which will add anything new to their data. It would be great to be able to select/deslect certain types of data perhaps also?

Something similar for exploration data would be marvellous (as this is probably the biggest area for swapping data).

Affs could then easily compile data from all members and maybe even distribute an aff data file every few months or so.

Obviously these are not priority changes, but would make a great addition truly excellent and almost invaluable to game play.

Change the parcer.cfg to do what you like. Its not a programming issue.

If I understood what it did I might change it!
