Hi, I thought I understood how production carryover work, but apparently not... can someone give me a reasonable explanation of the logic behind them? I had assumed that the carryover represents a half completed item, so having 24 carryover for an ICM Mk1 would mean you only need to add another 16 to produce the next one. This doesnt seem to be the case though... example follows 7 factories {7x50 mus}. 350 mus of basic production available. >Attempting to produce 2 Industrial Modules (400). 24 mus of carryover. Factories produced 2 Industrial Modules (400) - 80 mus production Raw materials: 60 Metals (1), 20 Basic Elements (2) 24 mus of carryover. >Attempting to produce 1 Structural module (420). Factories produced 1 Structural module (420) - 40 mus production Raw materials: 30 Metals (1), 10 Hydrocarbons (3) >Attempting to produce 4 Basic Modules (410). Factories produced 4 Basic Modules (410) - 160 mus production Raw materials: 160 Metals (1) >Attempting to produce 10 Industrial Modules (400). Factories produced 1 Industrial Module (400) - 40 mus production Raw materials: 30 Metals (1), 10 Basic Elements (2) 30 mus of carryover. If you add up the actual production and the carryover at the end, you get 350. So the 24 carryover I initially had was effectively discarded, which doesnt seem to make much sense to me. DaveH

Im not positive, but i suspect its because your production changed from Industrial Modules t something else - the carryover would only be used in making Industrial Modules, so it was lost. I think ![]() Mandible Mark

Right, but the thing is I built 24/40 of an ICM the previous turn and *continued* building ICMs at the start of this turn. Why chuck away the part built one just because later in the day I changed production, why not complete that part built one as part of the remaining ICM queue? If that's the way the game works, fine, I can deal with it (I wont chop and change production so much for a start ![]() Dave

This does seem rather bizarre. One would expect the first two ICMs to use the 24 MU carryover and only 56 MU of 'new' production, leaving more production available for the remaining items in the queue. I don't think that this is by design. rob

Yup it was a mistake in the carryover - i'm surprised it was not spotted before. Its fixed in next update. Basically the 'last' carryover was nevered added back into the basic production. So if you produced 100 sensors at 10 mus each: If you say had 5 carryover and 1 sensor left to make, it would use 10mus of production ratehr than 5mus. |
