I was wondering what the odds were of finding a base that is in a cave if your ground party was sent (by luck or accident) to a sector that had a hidden base in it.

Probably very low as there have been several incidents where someone has set up an outpost after completely exploring,GPIing and prospecting a sector only to find that there is already an outpost there and the owner isn't too happy about you sitting on top of them!! wink.gif

Finding outposts with full cave coverage/-98% sensor profile is an absolute nightmare with anything. But particularly I should imagine with a GP.

i have been guilt of this in the past!!

was dead proud of starting my very first outpost only to find i had built right next door to an SMS one.

you'd have thought my crew would have seen the bugger before they started building. biggrin.gif

Scouting each sector with a suitable GP is supposed to be a way of finding hidden outposts. Time consuming and, I suspect not 100% reliable.

I normally let the GP move randomly.. just select an couple of locations and let it move towards it. Its also an great way to find hidden GP's...

Also add an couple of scouts to the GP, they will increase your chances of finding something.

Wouldn't just scan-sector from orbit work a whole lot better?
