Attempting to use Patch Mk3 to repair integrity seems to result in the same number of patches being used as if you were using everyday Patch Mk1. Couple of calculations here, so please correct me if I'm wrong. First of all, Patch Mk3 are 175% of the output patch mk1 provide. Using the example of 100 normal patches needed.
So, with Patch Mk3 you theoretically need 58% of the number of patch mk1, right? From the report on a 10 heavy hull ship:
Three days later - no additional integrity loss between turns, no item uninstalls/installs:
8.3 patches rounded up to 9 patches. The starbase in question only produces Patch Mk3, and only has patch mk3 stockpiled. The maintenance visit should have used 5.22 patch mk3 (58% of 9), rounded up to 6 patch Mk3. I think?

did the actual number of Mk3 patches go down by 9? It might just be a mis-reporting.... Dan

Mk 3 give 150 repair (so 1.5x better)...though that would still give a 6 :-) mark

Aha. Well spotted Dan. The report from the starbase: Maintenance: FGZ Tsa'li (64933) used 6 Patch mkIIIs (47). Guess it's just misreporting on the ship then ![]()

Its reported correct, it says it used basic patches. However on the starbase i believe it tells you exactly what was used. That way anyone using your maintenance does not know what you are using....

Does that mean the ship will pay a patch price based on the hypothetical number of basic patches that would have been used then?

From my experience, yes. So if it would have used 2 basic patches, it will pay the starbase for 2 basic patches, even if it has actually used 2 mkII patches... Richard AFT

It would show as using 9...they would pay for 9....but in reality only use 6 mk 3. Which makes sense - you are getting paid more money for using higher tech items. Mark

That's not the point. Say a maintenance visit actually needed the equivalent of 1.6 basic patches. The user would get charged the cost of two basic patches. Since mkII patches provide the equivalent of 1.25 basic patches, you still need two mkII patches. So the visit will use up two mkII patches. Overall effect is that you get paid for two basic patches, when you've actually used two mkII patches (so should theoretically have paid for 2.5 basic patches). Richard AFT

Sorry, but that is eactly the point of this thread - that patches shown as used on a ship deliberately differs to the amount that is actually used, dependant upon marque. Ok, rounding at low patch use is a minor discrepancy to that. Is such a minor rounding such a big concern though - its only ever going to be one patch out....or is all the maintenance visits you are getting at such low levels? in which case I guess it could add up....but then, if it does just increase your price - or use basic patches so you dont waste the higher marque ones.
