How do you go about escorting a ship from a different affiliation than your allied with or defend them (non combat escortee) against an affiliation your not at war with.

As far as I can tell the current needing to be at war options means you can't do this short of converting your ships to PIR, which would promptly get them shot at by everyone.

I'm not sure if it can be done.

Maybe individual positions can be added to support/defend lists? Like, you can't add entire affs to support/defend unless you're allied, but maybe you can add their ships one by one?

Would make sense to me if that were possible. But, no idea if it is.

If you can't then doesn't that make hiring (or hiring out) combat vessels to protect traders rather hard to do?

Will try it this week and see however.

-You can add any PIR position

-You can add any posted position to your enemy list
-You can add any affiliation or position you your enemy that you are not allied to
-All allied affiliations will be automatically removed from your enemy lists.
(note that posted allied positions can be added)
[4] You can only support/defend positions that are in your affiliation or an allied affiliation.

So it would seem I can add anyone to hostile lists, but i'm not allowed to defend/escort a trader unless I offically ally with them?
