I have noticed lately that there are an awful lot of people running starbases without politicals. Myself included.

From those that I have talked to, they just can't justify having a £2 cost per week for something that negligible. I am managing fine without one, except now, when we loose a political player.

Many of us are on budgets that don't allow us to do hundreds of SAs and run all out politicals. Over spending my budget is what caused me to have to leave Phoenix before and I don't want to get to that again. Especially with the GBP being worth so much more than the USD or some of the other denominations that players home countries use.

So I was wondering if there could be a limited Political. Maybe £1 per week or something even cheaper, or some way for those of us without politicals to do political orders and get charged just then. If I could put all my political orders in at once and pay £2, that wouldn't be so bad. Right now with Steve leaving, I have a bunch of ships and outposts and former starbases (changed to outposts to cut costs) to redistribute, but without a political I can't even gift positions to others in my affiliations.

Another one I have found is during the War on Janth, DTR took over FET's starbase. I recaptured it and and now it shows as being owned by me personally and not my aff. That is great, but even with that, I can't gift it back to FET because I don't have a political. Shouldn't I be able to gift personal assets to someone else without needing a political?

Any ideas?

Assuming you have at least one political player left somewhere in the aff can't you just make the position aff owned and get them to transfer it?

Not the best solution i know but the only one i can think of short of an SA to ask Mica to do it

I've been running a standard political position ever since Phoenix started, at a cost of 2 GPB/week. Which is now less than a starbase.
To be honest, I don't understand how you could manage more than a handful of positions without one. Running several starbases without a political position is (I imagine) an absolute nightmare, as is running an affiliation.

If I was in your position I would convert one starbase to outpost and get a political position instead.

The other thought is to create a political, do the political orders you need to do and then have the position removed again (I guess this is done via special action, as there is no other obvious way to get rid of a political position).

Well in some cases I agree. It does become a pain to manage all the positions without a political, but not impossible. It is just a matter of justifying what you get for the political, which up till the other day, I thought was not much.

I now realize that several of the online order editor features are geared to having a political and that might also help me get my turns done in a more timely manner and that might be worth the extra pounds of RL cost.

Now I just have to try to explain it to the wife and kids when I have to tell them that no more Saturday dinners smile.gif

Thanks to all of you for helping me understand the value of a Political. I wasn't seeing the benefit for the cost. Having a central bank account and the weekly position list doesn't buy me anything (I have been handling those manually for months), but the other features with the online editor and the fact that now I need to be able to have the political abilities such as gifting positions, does bring up a dilema.

So I will most likely be getting a political in the near future. Something my buddies at CIA can kidnap or whatever smile.gif

don't forget those two free ships when you get your political.
