Perhaps someone can tell me whether this is a bug or a feature! In the listing of shortrange ground units I have all the obvious components but two others that seem less intuitive. First, the officer commanding the starbase is listed as a short range ground unit. I can understand this, although it seems slightly odd to have the top man in the starbase on the front line! Second, and odder, I also seem to have a political character doing excercises with the troops. This seems slightly unwise. Should he be there? Thanks

Seems typical of a politicians if you ask me, there will be a few tv camera crews with him too! Seriously though, it probably represents the fact that everyone in the starbase is vulnerable, even if they arent front-line combatants

Actually, it's to do with the 'Create Political' order - when you originally created your political position you would have used a lifeform, most likely from your starter ship. In other words, he is effectively a crew member, and has a crew's combat statistics

Ah, now that makes sense, but the question then is, should he still be there hanging out with his mates from training college days, or should he be hiding somewhere in a safer part of town? Next time I shall have to find an alien pet of some sort to make into a political, maybe a parrot.

Why not a tyburn pengiun according to the tech-manual they have a race of wimble (which I think means wimbles like them more, but I'm not to sure on some of the tm data)

Be grateful with this. Mine is flagged as a prisoner. Go figure

Yeh, mine had that too! I pointed out to Mica that politicals were allowed to exceed the duty free allowances when they arrived at a starbase so he set him free for me (he was still training with the troops even when he was in prison!) |
