Having spent 90% of my efforts on production and military actions, I have little experience in finding uncommon minerals. Although my scanning efforts have hardly been extensive, I never remember seeing a collidium,Pulac or any of the more rare minerals listed. Now that I actually could use some of those minerals, especially Collidium, my question is what is the best way to find these minerals (quickest).

Does the the tech level of the exploration mod influence the likelihood of finding the more exotic minerals or do they just make it possible to use less to gain the same scanning power?

Any advice is welcome.

The exploration module only gives yields during prospecting, doesn't effect scanning power at all.

As far as I know if you know about a resource then you'll pick it up on your scans, having said that there are resources that are on my positions that I don't 'know' about. Apparently picking them up and delivereing them again will update my political and we'll see smile.gif

With regards to Collidium specifically I don't have it on my political but I am pretty sure that have seen it in scans. The only thing you can do is make sure your +/- is low enough that you don't just miss it completely. happy.gif

Pack a 75 hull ship full of sensors. You will find the collidium if it is there on a planet GPI.

Now I could tell you where to look for it in the Capellan periphery if I was being nice laugh.gif

Higher MKs of Exploration modules simply reduce the number of TUs required to perform the prospect order. They have no effect on GPI scanning or detection rates.

I could tell you if you paid enough wink.gif

The advice about the sensor ship is welcome... As far as pointing me to a source, that is asking you to be a little too nice (he he he). Thanks

Hi Goth,

Following is a typical GPI order for a location I was working some time ago.

>TU 218: GPI Area {0} {1} {1} {7} {24}
GPI Area from Sector {1,1} -> Sector {7,24}
Scanning for all ores:
Hydrocarbons (3) Yield = 83.66 +- 3.49
Metals (1) Yield = 45.71 +- 3.49
Basic Elements (2) Yield = 40.31 +- 3.49
Collidium (31) Yield = 4.46 +- 3.49
Total TU cost for this action is 80

As you can see, a reasonably large area was scanned for all ores. It appears to me that the GPI in general may tip you off of all mineral types providing your sensor ratings are sufficiently good.
